Captain Mary

Captain Mary is a United States Coast Guard Certified Captain with 40 plus years of boating experience. Her boating adventures began with competitively sailing and scuba diving off the California Coast and her passion for the open waters has been a part of her life ever since. Captain Mary has pursued her life’s dreams of scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef; wind surfing, white water rafting the Great Zambezi River and many more adventures while working for a Fortune 500 company. But after 22 years of being in the corporate clutch, Captain Mary realized her desire for boating and the water could not be satisfied with just a few weeks of vacation. So, a permanent move to South Carolina was made. After working at a local marina as the Dock master, Captain Mary realized that boaters and the South Carolina waters needed help in eliminating waste from the large recreational vessels in the area and Nature’s Call was born. Captain Mary began the first mobile marine pump out business on the northern coast of South Carolina that has been going strong since 2012. After the encouragement of a good friend, Capt. Mary began doing sailboat charters for a local company and her love for sailing was ignited once again. The desire to be on the open water was so strong a permanent Captain’s position was needed. In 2019, Captain Mary began piloting large motor yachts and in 2021 accepted the positon on the Grand Duchess as the permanent Captain. Captain Mary has always been around the boating life and has many experiences and stories to tell. It seems like everywhere you go on the water “Everyone Knows Mary”. Her business ventures remain active on the local waters from the North Carolina border to just south of Georgetown and she is thankful and honored to be the Captain of the Grand Duchess.
